O verbo TO BE significa SER e ESTAR. Ele tem três formas no presente. FORMA AFIRMATIVA I am — eu sou / estou You are — você é / está He is — ele é / está She is — ela é / está It is — ele/ela (coisa/animal) é / está We are — nós somos / estamos They are — eles/elas são / estão FORMAS CONTRAÍDAS (fala do dia a dia) I am = I’m | you are = you’re | he is = he’s | she is = she’s | it is = it’s | we are = we’re | they are = they’re FORMA NEGATIVA (acrescente NOT depois do verbo) I am not tired. — Eu não estou cansado. She is not a doctor. — Ela não é médica. They are not here. — Eles não estão aqui. FORMA INTERROGATIVA (inverta o verbo e o sujeito) Are you Brazilian? — Você é brasileiro? Yes, I am. / No, I am not. Is he your brother? — Ele é seu irmão? Yes, he is. / No, he is not. QUANDO USAR profissão: I am a teacher. nacionalidade: We are Brazilian. estado/emoção: She is happy. He is tired. idade: My sister is ten years old. lugar: The book is on the table. ERROS COMUNS errado: I am have 20 years. → correto: I am 20 years old. errado: She have happy. → correto: She is happy. errado: You is my friend. → correto: You are my friend.
